How to Play

In Checkmate, players engage in a series of chess puzzle levels, each set on a small board like 3x3 or 4x3 grids. As Black, the objective is to checkmate the White king in the minimum number of moves. Gameplay revolves around tactical decision-making: players analyze board layouts, anticipate White's potential moves, and select optimal Black moves to trap the king. Each level is a standalone puzzle with escalating difficulty, introducing more piece types and complex scenarios. Core mechanics include moving pieces, counting moves, avoiding无效 moves, and quickly identifying checkmate patterns. There is no time limit, encouraging thoughtful play while striving for efficiency to improve scores. By completing levels, players unlock new challenges and hone basic chess skills.
