About the Game

English Checkers is a digital adaptation of the classic English checkers game, developed by Smartberry, designed for easy play in browsers or apps. It faithfully recreates the rules and strategy of traditional checkers on an 8×8 board, where each player starts with 12 pieces, aiming to win by capturing all opponent pieces or leaving them with no legal moves. The interface is clean and functional, with well-defined pieces and board for easy recognition and move tracking, allowing players to focus on strategy rather than complex visuals. Additionally, it offers multiple modes, including AI battles at various difficulty levels, online multiplayer against real players, and local two-player games on the same screen, enhancing fun and learning value. How to Play

The core gameplay of English Checkers is based on classic English checkers rules. Played on an 8×8 board using only dark squares, each player begins with 12 pieces placed on the first three rows on their side. Pieces move one square diagonally forward; if an opponent's piece is diagonally adjacent and the square beyond is empty, a jump capture is mandatory. When a piece reaches the opposite end of the board, it is crowned as a 'king,' gaining the ability to move and capture diagonally in both directions. The objective is to capture all opponent pieces or block their moves. Players can choose to face AI at different difficulty levels, compete online against real players, or play locally with a friend on the same screen. The game also provides move hints, undo options, and replay features to assist in strategy analysis and improvement. Time control modes include unlimited, blitz, and classic, adding variety and challenge.
