Lookouts is a visual novel developed by paranoidhawk and coldoggo, set in the old West. The story revolves around two gay trans masc outlaws who meet in the desert, away from their gangs. As the plot unfolds, they discover common ground and explore a town rumored to have gold. The game delves into emotional development, identity, and the desire for a better life. As an expanded version from the Gay Western Jam, it includes enhanced storylines and art. Themes cover alcohol, smoking, gun violence, death, blood, injury, mild transphobia, racism, and settler violence discussions, without graphic detail. It supports multiple languages including Arabic, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), and Chinese (Traditional), and is released on various platforms.

The core gameplay of Lookouts is based on traditional interactive storytelling in visual novels. Players click or press the spacebar to advance the plot and display dialogue, experiencing a linear narrative flow. There are no branching choices or complex puzzles, focusing on immersive reading and emotional engagement. Players follow the journey of two protagonists, observing their relationship growth and internal conflicts. With about 45,000 words, it offers a 5-6 hour reading experience, suitable for players who enjoy slow-paced, character-driven stories.
