Pacman is a classic arcade game created by Japanese designer Toru Iwatani in 1980, originally released on Namco's arcade platform. It quickly became a global phenomenon, earning a Guinness World Record as one of the most successful video games in history. Beyond gaming, Pacman is a cultural icon, appearing in events like the Olympics, TV shows such as The Simpsons, and movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The core gameplay involves controlling the yellow circular character Pacman to move through mazes, eat all dots while avoiding ghosts, and use power pellets to temporarily turn the tables on ghosts for high scores. Over time, Pacman has spawned numerous versions and adaptations, including Ms. Pacman, Google Pacman, and 3D editions, available on various platforms like mobile phones, computers, and consoles.
In Pacman, players control Pacman to navigate mazes with the goal of eating all dots to advance to the next level. Four ghosts (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde) chase Pacman; if touched, the player loses a life. Special dots called power pellets temporarily turn the ghosts blue, allowing Pacman to eat them for extra points. Additionally, items like cherries appear in the maze, providing bonus points when eaten. The game offers multiple character options, such as Pacman, Mrs. Pacman, and Cookie Monster, as well as a turbo mode that speeds up gameplay. Players must strategically plan their movements to avoid ghosts and maximize their score.
Use the keyboard arrow keys (up, down, left, right) to control Pacman's movement through the maze.
