Peggy's Post is a simulation management game developed by a two-person team, originally created in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 53. Set in a lighthouse post office, players take on the role of the new owner, handling daily postal operations. The game features Canadian-inspired elements, including place names and detailed stamp art, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Players manage the post office by sorting mail, applying postage, loading parcels onto correct delivery vehicles, and using earnings to upgrade tools, purchase stamp packs, charter new ships, and repay loans on time to prevent foreclosure. Currently in active development, the game plans to add more content and expansions, including a Steam release and extended storylines.
The core gameplay revolves around post office management. Players process incoming mail and parcels daily, starting with sorting mail, applying stamps based on destination and weight, and loading parcels onto the correct ships. Two modes are available: 7-Day mode gradually introduces mechanics for beginners, while Endless mode provides all mechanics from day one for enthusiasts. Players can upgrade tools by earning income, such as buying efficient stamp packs or chartering new ships to expand operations. Additionally, the game includes a stamp collection system where players gather various stamps to fill a collection book, unlocking hidden content and rewards. Strategic elements are emphasized, requiring optimization of parcel loading and route selection to maximize profits and avoid fines.
The game supports keyboard and mouse controls. Left-click picks up and holds items, while right-click or R rotates or uses the held item (function varies by item). Click dog-eared corners to flip through book or map pages. Shortcuts include: TAB toggles shipping inventory or mistake preview, hold L-SHIFT preserves current layering of held item, hold L-CTRL pushes layering to the back, W and E flip pages or blueprints backward and forward, Q toggles storage (once unlocked), D moves to the next customer, and A ends the day. These controls are designed for intuitive operation, aiding efficient post office management.
