Devil's Gate
Devil's Gate is a platformer game where players guess trap locations on maps to avoid death, testing rationality and reflexes with each critical step.
The world has already ended. All you have left are three living faces and a highway that never seems to finish. Behind you is rubble; ahead of you is danger on every inch of asphalt — but that same road carries the only way out. In Survivalist, you command a squad of three survivors sprinting down that lane, trading gunfire and numbers for a chance to keep going. The road is cruel, but it is never unfair. Every gate ahead is a choice: a value and an operator are stamped on the frame, and the longer your squad keeps shooting a gate, the higher its payout climbs. Hold fire on a gate marked +1 and watch the number rise, step by step, all the way to +20. It is a bet on patience. But gates never arrive alone — they come in pairs, separated by a lethal pillar, and you can only pick one side: the steady +18, or the triple-your-worth ×3. The one thing you never touch is the ÷5. Crates are scattered along the route. Green ones pack heavier firepower, blue ones let your barrels spit faster. Break them open and your squad survives longer. Meanwhile, solid obstacles and waves of enemies pour down the lane. Dodge everything solid; kill everything that moves. At the end of every stretch stands a boss — the road's final examiner, testing the firepower and judgment you have banked along the way. Even if you fall there, the boss comes back weaker on your next run. This road never runs out of second chances; it only runs out of people willing to run it again.
The game loops around three actions: move, choose, and shoot. You control a squad of three survivors, and while you slide them left or right, their fire automatically pours into whatever stands in front of them. The central mechanic is gates and numbers. Pairs of numerical gates appear across the lane with a lethal pillar between them, leaving only two narrow paths. What is written on a gate decides your payout: sustained fire on the same gate slowly grows its value from +1 up to +20, so patience pays. But when two gates arrive at once, you have to commit — +18 is reliable additive income, ×3 is a riskier multiplicative burst, and ÷5 is a trap that undoes your progress. Deciding how long to keep shooting, and when to abandon a gate for the other side, is where the strategy lives. Crates along the road deliver instant buffs: green crates raise your squad's damage so bullets hit harder, blue crates raise fire rate so the stream of shots gets denser. Stacked together, they let your payouts snowball through each gate. At the same time, solid obstacles and enemies keep coming down the lane. Hitting an obstacle costs health, so your left-right movement has to dodge hazards while still lining your fire up with the most valuable target. Enemies must be cleared out, or they will keep grinding your squad down. Each stage closes with a boss fight. Bosses have far more health and a denser attack rhythm, testing the firepower you have accumulated. If you die to a boss, it reappears in a weaker form on your next attempt, giving stuck players a path forward through repeated tries.
